My thoughts get locked up when typing. Compared to writing by hand or voice to text, typing is jarring and time consuming. Ink on paper is my favorite. The words kinda tumble out, especially if I'm using the "good pen" ⬊⬊⬊

A fine-tipped pen with black ink

Today I experimented. I wrote using my typical journaling approach but subbed goodpen ⤊⤊⤊ with a keyboard. I set a timer for 20 minutes and jabbed at my phone stream-of-conscious style. The resulting thoughts + a few hours of editing later, and I have a lovely, deeply personal essay on belonging that in no way am I comfortable sharing with the internet. Ah phooey.

Some folks find the physicality of handwriting very helpful, so for them, seeking out the best materials will pay off in both productivity and pleasure. The pen fans hang out on [community profile] journalsandplanners. Micropens, fountain pens, calligraphy nibs, ink -- it's all on there. :D

... I'm more of a pragmatist. I'm testing which paint pens last longest on plastic labels for plants.

>> Thanks for pointing me to journalsandplanners. I have a green version of the oil based marker in your plant label test. It has worked well on plastics for me and without fading.<<

That's cool. I think the store only had black when I looked.

>> The fumes on that sucker is fierce though <<

I've used markers that smelled a lot worse. I think the oil carries less than some alcohol ones. Magic Markers often reek, but are nowhere near as permanent as advertised.
